RCI Community Funds (RCI) is planning to establish a series of community investment funds to revitalize, catalyze, and impact selected communities. Its goal is to place funding strategically into real estate and local businesses to generate sustainable economic growth for underserved and disinvested communities that have been ‘left behind.’
?To share its knowledge on the topic of community revitalization, RCI Community Funds has acted to establish RCI Academy Corporation as a nonprofit that will provide educational services in the design, development and presentation of programs ranging from books, case studies, workshop, and bootcamps to a planned turnkey DIY build your community investment fund package.
Work is underway to present the first half-day online interactive workshop in late October or early November on the topic of Community Capital. This workshop will be led by Bill Huston – a thought leader and champion on helping communities retain and build wealth. Bill will act as the initial Director of the RCI Academy.
?As conceived, a fee of $500 will be charged for a person to attend the workshop. They will receive a workbook, a copy of the slide deck and a video recording of the event.
?Price discounts will be available to partners of the RCI Academy. In addition, RCI Academy will be seeking funding in the form of scholarships to cover the attendance fee for qualified applicants.
?Other topics under consideration for future workshops include:
·?????? Community Engagement
·?????? Investment Crowdfunding
·?????? Fundraising
·?????? Social Entrepreneurship
·?????? Integrated Investment
·?????? Impact Investing
?If there is a topic that you would like to see presented in a future educational program, please contact:

COMMUNITY REVITALIZATION AT WORK – BLOOMINGTON GROVE, SAN BERNADINO COUNTY, CALIFORNIA
?Bloomington Grove is the first multi-use development under the County of San Bernardino's Specific Plan.
?The community is the outcome of a decade-long public-private partnership with?Related California?and the County of San Bernardino. Related California is a for-profit business that develops a combination of affordable, workforce, and luxury housing.
?The Bloomington Grove is a 13.4-acre site on which has been constructed a new 6,597 square foot Bloomington Public Library, 287 affordable housing units for seniors (Lillian Court) and families (Bloomington Grove), and 31 supportive housing units for direct referrals of special needs tenants from the County of San Bernardino Department of Behavioral Health. There is also a public community center for the new public park, a senior center, and two family community centers that host social services, including after-school programs and educational classes. Other amenities include a pool, barbecue area, drought-tolerant landscape materials, and open space with meandering paths.
?This integrated approach to community revitalization combined housing with community facilities and a variety of programs to support residents of the community. As described, additional benefits may be realized by economic development of more local businesses and associated workforce training for both unskilled and skilled workers.
