RBC Future Launch | Richmond Addiction Services Future Leaders Program
On June 2nd and June 9th,?Gail Lam,?Evan Morgan?and I led a Future Leaders Program for Richmond Addiction on behalf of?RBC Future Launch.?Gail started with the June 2nd program around?Budgeting 101.?She spoke how to budget effectively and the concept of WANT vs. NEED. They were able to identify essential expenses and how we can spend smarter. We utilized the?Student Budget Calculator?found on the RBC public website as one of the tools we can use. Navigating through the website allowed us to highlight some features such as NOMI and ALERTS. At the end of the first presentation, Gail encouraged the class to download the budget tool or take a template to help review how we can effectively manage our funds for the future.
?The following week, I came in to do the presentation on Job Search 101. Topics we discussed were:
* Creating your resume
* Finding jobs
* Applying for jobs
* Interviewing for jobs
*Starting a new job.
?Evan Morgan?and I started with a quick activity called the?Elevator Pitch. We went around the room and shared our elevator pitches to a "CEO" of a company. They then brought in their resume and we reviewed resume no-no's and skills we should highlight. One of the stand out items from the presentation was?RBC Upskill. When we asked what career aspirations they had, they didn't have a really solid answer. This is where we got the opportunity to highlight RBC Upskill. Everyone loved the feature it has to help find recommendations of careers that align with their general skills and interests.
