Welcome back to rAVe [TV], where we talk all things #AV, including news, trends, trade shows and more every Wednesday at 12 p.m. EST. Steph and I have an exciting episode with new products, new partnerships and even a special guest! Keep reading, #AVtweeps!
A Midweek Pick-Me-Up
Our excitement for the day was that we got Hawkers for lunch. We both highly recommend it if you’re looking for a good restaurant in Chapel Hill. It was a nice pick-me-up for the middle of the week.?
There are many events coming up in the spring, but COVID-19 might have other plans. As long as the trade shows coming up aren’t canceled, both Steph and I feel comfortable traveling since we are both up to date on all the COVID-19 vaccinations. It’s crazy to believe many people, including my own daughter, would have never known they contracted the new variant if they were not getting tested regularly. Just remember to respect the guidelines and stay as safe as possible if you are traveling!?
Make Your Home Savvy and Sophisticated
Before we get into the news, I want to mention a trend I see growing in popularity this year. Steph says it might be a millennial thing, but more people are looking for technology that can be disguised as artwork in their home. For example, TVs made to look like framed art or speakers shaped as sculptures can keep your home looking classy and tech-savvy.?
2022 The Year Of Hybrid
Kicking off the news this week, THE rAVe Agency has partnered with HB Live, a premier live event company, to bring LAVNCH HYBRID into business. LAVNCH HYBRID is a platform where live events are streamed to the web — but we won’t just stream it. We will custom curate a unique experience for each event with networking platforms, our own moderators and the ability to ask live presenters questions within the online platform. We like to think of it similarly to sportscasting, and it’s a great way to take your regional show to a national level. We are the first to offer this experience, and we are excited to put the plan into action. Check out the LAVNCH platform here.
Go Psycho, #AVtweeps!
From our BlogSquad this week, we had an article from Nathan Haynes titled “PSYCHO!” — and no, it was not about the Alfred Hitchcock film. Nathan writes all about psychoacoustics and how it fits into the AV ecosystem. Here’s a sneak peek … it has everything to do with defining the gap between AV and IT. Opposite of Scott Tiner’s argument, Nathan states that AV is not IT and will never be, despite the fact that they help each other move along in the industry. We’re looking forward to the response columns and other opinions!
A Special Guest With A Special Announcement
Today’s episode was extra special due to our guest Joe Cornwall, a technology evangelist from Legrand. He gave us the rundown on the company’s in-person, hybrid and now on-the-road show coming up this year.?

Also coming up in two weeks is Legrand’s AV University emerging tech week. There will be three days of content, including artificial intelligence, discussions on the projection industry, the era of IoT, the Internet of Things, and more! Tune in for an authentic discussion on how these topics have changed the industry and how they will continue to affect the industry in upcoming years. #AVtweeps can register for the AV University here.
Look! No Hands!
I was so excited about the next product that I bought it right after writing this article about it! Magnima has recently released its AirPoint Ring, a wearable wireless mouse designed for teachers and presenters. This device allows you to control your presentations without having to run back to your computer on every slide. I especially love this product because I’ll never lose it during class! I usually assign one student during my lectures to keep track of my pointer whenever I lose it; now I don’t have to!?
This product was designed by Anoop Joseph, a firmware engineer and also a fellow teacher. Check out more of its features here, #AVtweeps.
New Product Alert!
Just this week, Sharp NEC Display Solutions of America Inc. started shipping their NC1843ML laser projector, the newest addition to its digital cinema projection series. I think this product is killer technology because this is what’s used in digital cinemas. And, it can also be used in rental and staging and projection mapping! This is a very forward-thinking installation! Check it out here.
Powering Pilgrimage
Last but not least, Jacob Blunt shared his experience of do’s and don’ts during his time at Pilgrimage 2022. Jacob has a lot of experience with house of worship productions and worked at THE rAVe Agency back in the day. He talked about what technology was used to power the event and detailed every step of the way.?
I love this article because it will be super helpful to future HOW events that want to use these same products. Thanks, Jacob! Check out what he has to say here.
That’s it for today’s episode,#AVtweeps! Thank you to our sponsors, Shure and Legrand, for making this show possible. Make sure to tune in next Wednesday at 12 p.m. EST for more exciting news and great discussions. See you then!
