Give it up for Steph and Gary! We’re back with another episode of rAVe [TV] and we are excited to share this week's most important industry news and stories. In this episode, we talk about getting struck by lightning, who’s in and who’s out of CEDIA Expo and vaccination requirements at future trade shows. Read on!
Gary gets struck by lighting?
To kick off the week, I went on a run in my new running shoes and — little did I know — a lightning bolt was about to land about 2 feet from me. The shoes are ruined and I am a bit emotionally scarred. Moral of the story? Skip the run and get a beer with your co-workers instead (which is what Steph and other rAVers did to wait out the weather).?
Steph and a few members of the rAVe squad are thrilled to be attending CEDIA Expo! If there is something in particular you want covered, email [email protected] to make sure she checks it out! As a CEDIA Expo preview, I had an interview with Jason McGraw, the show director. Jason puts a positive spin on the exhibitors pulling out — because that means more time to focus on the exhibitors who are present! Make sure to check out our “who’s in, who’s out” article for an updated attendee list.?
NAB Show 2021 will require proof of vaccination to attend. In this article, we linked the official letter from the show and the director’s reasoning. Steph doesn’t think this is too far from left field, since vaccine requirements are becoming commonplace at gatherings such as Live Nation concerts all over the country.??

Mark Coxon wrote this helpful blog for all AV designers and integrators. He talks about his go-to calculators for the design process; even though these are associated with brands most of the time, he says these calculators work on most similar installs and can be trusted for multiple jobs. How useful!
Scott Tiner wrote about how important it is to remove the uncertainty during a new normal, but with a spin! He looks to the future: how office life will look, how to encourage people to work in-person (while being safe and effective) and how to run a business during COVID-19 if we continue to be in a pandemic for the foreseeable future.
ClearOne is introducing the new plug-in for the Autodesk Revit BIM. Everyone in our industry seems to want BIM on everything, so they are showing up for us! This is available for download in the rAVe [PUBS] article linked above.?
New company on the block, #AVtweeps! 512 Audio released two new microphones this month. The company is primarily focusing on the podcasting and livestreaming industry — so let’s give them a warm welcome!?
