The development of the human brain and artificial intelligence (AI) is the foundation for understanding the dynamics of biological and technological progress. This article analyzes and compares the pace of development of both phenomena, taking into account their historical contexts, time scale and potential future trajectories. Considering the evolution of the human brain over millions of years and the meteoric rise of AI over the past few decades, the article highlights significant disparities in the rate of progress, providing a vision of a future in which these disparities could impact the relationship between human intelligence and AI.

The evolution of the human brain is a process that began approximately 7 million years ago, with the most significant changes taking place over the last 2-3 million years. These changes included an increase in the size and complexity of the brain, which was crucial to the development of Homo sapiens around 300,000 years ago.

In turn, the development of artificial intelligence, although difficult to clearly limit in time, has gained importance since the mid-20th century, accelerating significantly in recent years thanks to progress in information technology, available data and computing power.

Development Rate Comparison

Analysis of the rate of development of the human brain compared to AI reveals that AI is developing at a significantly faster rate. Assuming that the human brain has been developing for about 2.5 million years and that the first computers appeared about 80 years ago, it can be estimated that AI is developing about 31,250 times faster than the human brain. However, direct comparison of these two phenomena is difficult and requires taking into account different contexts and scales.

Future and Implications

When forecasting the future, it can be expected that the disproportion between the pace of development of AI and the human brain will increase, which may lead to difficulties in maintaining the advantage of the human brain over AI. This requires radical changes in the way we think about biological and technological development, as well as the adoption of innovative strategies in both educational and regulatory matters.

In light of these challenges, the role of policymakers, business leaders and the international community in shaping a future in which humanity can coexist and cooperate with evolving AI systems becomes crucial. Fundamentally, the future of humanity depends on the decisions we make today, which must take into account the long-term consequences of technological progress.

Conclusions

Analyzing the rate of development of the human brain and artificial intelligence highlights not only the differences in the time scale of their evolution, but also the potential challenges humanity faces in the face of rapidly evolving AI. The key to future success is an integrated approach that includes technological, educational and ethical development, aimed at harmonious coexistence and the best of both worlds.
