Ratan Tata, the former chairman of Tata Group, will forever be remembered as a transformative leader who reshaped Indian industry on the global stage. His leadership, marked by vision and compassion, not only brought Tata Group into new markets worldwide but also established an enduring legacy of employee welfare and philanthropy.
During his tenure as chairman from 1991 to 2012, Ratan Tata led the acquisition of globally recognized brands such as Jaguar Land Rover, Corus Steel, and Tetley, turning Tata from an Indian conglomerate into a global powerhouse. These bold moves grew the group's revenues from $5.7 billion in 1991 to nearly $100 billion by 2012. Tata also pushed innovation, launching the Tata Nano, a car designed to make transportation affordable to millions of Indians
Beyond financial success, his leadership focused heavily on the well-being of employees and the wider community. Ratan Tata was deeply committed to ethical business practices and corporate responsibility, with over 65% of his wealth dedicated to charitable causes. He championed healthcare, education, and rural development through the Tata Trusts, ensuring that the group’s success benefited India at large. His humane approach made him beloved by employees and a trusted figure in India and beyond(
Even after stepping down from active leadership, Ratan Tata continued to invest in startups, providing mentorship and financial support to young entrepreneurs. His passion for innovation and development, coupled with his humble lifestyle, made him a revered figure not only in business but also in society.
Ratan Tata passed away at the age 86 and as we remember his extraordinary legacy, it is fitting to close with one of his most inspiring quotes:
"One day you will realize that material things mean nothing. All that matters is the well-being of the people you love"

I need not repeat his achievements here once again but request & suggest to all my friends that through our associations and this platform we all should unanimously request to our Honourable Prime Minister, Civil Aviation Minister & our Chief Minister to consider naming the upcoming Airport at Navi Mumbai in name of Mr RATAN TATA, a true & very worthy Son of India!
