Once you have Rasbian installed, it is likely you are going to want to access the device remotely from your computer or laptop rather than through the HDMI connection. You can enable SSH or use this article to help you install and set up VNC.
If you are using VNC or SSH you probably want to use the 35mm Jack for audio. This article helps you switch to using the 35mm Jack instead of the HDMI for Audio.
