This festival is one of the most original as concept and venue in the world. The Ras Al Khaimah Fine Arts Festival was established in March 2013 on the initiative of the Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi Foundation for Policy Research.

An integral part of the Al Qasimi Foundation's mission is the cultural development of Ras Al Khaimah, and the Fine Arts Festival is an important part of this effort.

It has become an annual event that brings together artists and cultural experiences from the UAE and around the world to support the development of the arts in Ras Al Khaimah.

The festival takes place in Jazirat al-Hamra. This is a small 16th century fishing village that has been abandoned and left to nature. In 1968 the inhabitants left the place, however the dry desert conditions helped to preserve the area.

The main landmark of the village are the black coral houses, built in the traditional way, along with mosques, wind towers, shops and schools.

As part of the Ras Al Khaimah Art 2025 festival, under the theme 'Memory' over 100 local and international artists will present works inspired by personal and collective experiences.

Global collaboration features prominently this year, with six exhibitions in partnership with the Marinko Sudac Foundation", the embassies of the Netherlands, Germany, the United Kingdom and Brazil, as well as the US Mission in the UAE.

Friday night screenings of Japanese films in collaboration with the Japanese Consulate add are an important part of the Festival.

Culinary experiences include exclusive culinary events such as Belly of the Beast, a culinary adventure in South Africa featuring chefs Anouchka Horn and Neil Swart, and the gastronomic journey at Antica Australis.

Workshops include "Painting Past Memories", "Colouring Black and White Photographs" and "Stop Motion Animation". Film screenings are also held indoors and outdoors. Among the venues where films are screened are the outdoor fort and VOX Cinema in Al Hamra Mall.

Ras Al Khaimah Art Festival also features various speakers. Among the lectures are Rhythm and Remembrance: the Power of Musical Memory and Pages of the Past: Literature as a Memory Archive. Speakers include Emirati poet Amal Al Sahlawi, arts journalist Anna Seaman, and professor Deepak Unnikrishnan.

The very creative festival is well integrated into the traditional culture of Ras Al Khaimah.

This is because it takes place in the context of a traditional agglomeration.

Art impact is achieved not only by the respective paintings, sculptures, installations, etc., but also by the context in which they are exhibited.

In this way, the festival demonstrates the deep connection between world contemporary art and the traditional culture of the Ras Al Khaimah.

Maybe there are also some plans to build a museum next to Jazirat al-Hamra - to house the numerous and creative paintings and other artworks from different editions of art festival.

Many thanks to the organizers and artists of this impressive festival!!!
