Rare 1948 Ferrari 166 Spyder Corsa to Headline Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este Auction
Broad Arrow Auctions is excited to present one of the most significant early Ferrari models at the inaugural Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este Auction. Making its public sale debut, this 1948 Ferrari 166 Spyder Corsa with coachwork by Carrozzeria Ansaloni is a truly historic offering.
As one of only two examples purchased by the Besana brothers, Ferrari’s earliest private clients, this extraordinary car remains remarkably original. It retains its matching-numbers 2.0-liter V12 engine, chassis, five-speed racing gearbox, and bodywork, all verified by Ferrari Classiche White Book certification.
Having spent 50 years in the same family ownership (1965–2015), this race-proven Ferrari boasts a rich competition history, including appearances at the 1948 Targa Florio, Mille Miglia (1948 & 1949), Formula Two races, and hillclimbs. Its pedigree is further enhanced by awards at prestigious events such as Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance and the Cavallino Classic.
This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to acquire a rare and historically significant early Ferrari competition car.
