Rapid Start to UK Regenerative Agriculture Program Brings Us One Step Closer to Global Goal
Author: Jonathan Lane CMgr MCMI , managing director of ADM Agriculture.
Countries around the world are seeking to accelerate the introduction of regenerative agricultural practices to transform the food system and counter the impact of climate change, and the strong initial support we see from UK farmers bodes well for the global effort.
As enrolment for the 2025 growing season opens, I am pleased to share that ADM’s regenerative agriculture program in the UK is off to a promising start, building on the progress we’ve made in North America. The number of UK farmers registered in the initiative has increased to over 260 following its launch less than a year ago, exceeding our initial goals and giving us more confidence as we move toward our global ambition of 5 million acres in 2025.
Everything Starts With The Farmer
Farmers are at the heart of this collective effort to reduce emissions, improve soil health, lock more carbon in the soil, and promote biodiversity.
Global Scope, Local Focus
With our global reach, we can play an important role in helping to scale up regenerative agriculture. ADM purchases millions of metric tons of agricultural commodities and transports them to customers in more than 200 countries, connecting thousands of farmers worldwide to a range of businesses spanning the food, feed, fuel, and other sectors. Many of those customers are keen to take action to curb emissions and tackle the challenge of climate change.
Collaboration To Help Build A More Sustainable And Resilient Food System
Our UK regenerative agriculture program brings together an array of partners, including Map of Agriculture, a data company that is helping to measure the impact of these practices on the environment. Another company we’re working with in the UK, Ceres Rural, gives farmers important agronomic advice and support to help them implement these regenerative practices.

Setting ambitious targets and relying on data to assess the results are critical, and the fast start to the UK program is a positive sign as we look to expand globally. We hope you join us in this important conversation.
