Most of us are used to seeing "a startup's survival story". For once we are here with a Startup's ransomware survival story.
It is an episode of resilience ,process adherence and transparency.
May 11 2017 - 5 months from the date of Incorporation, the Team at AppRaam Labs was engaged in the User acceptance testing (UAT) of our maiden project. Then "Ransomware" hit like Thunder. Data was locked and a Ransom note landed in our DB.
If you thought, the Ransomware epidemic hit only huge corporations and healthcare Giants, Think again! We filed a complaint with the Cyber Crime Police @ Bengaluru, even before everyone woke up to the news that it was almost an universal epidemic.
A server update every 30 seconds , adding upto almost one million updates to the cloud server! Maybe this high octane environment attracted attention and made the Hacker think something critical was going on!
Indeed it is a critical project, something that could go down in the history of locomotion automation challenge in an unmet and under met Industry especially when the worksite is hostile and GPS challenged.
It caught the AppRaam Labs Team unawares but it did not and could not keep us down, we were back in business in a flat 2 hours. The Investor and Client were the first to know the situation and with their support we bounced back. Like the legendary Phoenix bird, we have risen back to continue the Pilot doubly strong and more efficient than ever.
Apart from our passionate team , maintaining traditional but meticulous low cost security strategy played a critical role
We have a question for you, What could have attracted the Ransomware? Hmm!!
We would love to share our experience, talk to us now!
