GOD does not play dice with the universe.

~Albert Einstein

Say a pair of dice, both of which have six sides each, is tossed right in front of you and you were to hypothesize as to what outcome may appear. Chances are that you could get it at a 2.7778% success rate. What you expect does not guarantee it will actually occur since you have one out of thirty-six ordered pairs. Given the fact and expanded further: Life does not really cater to our every whim and every feeble desire we aspire. Going to the above quote by one of the world’s well-renowned scientists, he later discussed/explained that the occurrence of events do not actualize in an indiscriminate pattern, rather, it is all transpiring similar to ordered pairs wherein the outcome is expected, yet, mortals like us do not know what is to materialize before our very eyes. It brings us to the One who proceeds to make the outcome a reality, where He stated “Surely, as I have planned, so it will be and as I have purposed, so it will happen.” (Isaiah 14:24)

Occurrences, most of the time, bewilder us, especially when we surmise our own results. We, most often, expect that things will go our way without concrete proof that it will really happen (Proverbs 27:1). Sure, life sends us tumbling through emotional roller-coasters, tossed to and fro in a vast ocean of confusion. At one point, all seems fool-proof, everything we ever wanted at our fingertips. Then, in all of a sudden, we are displaced farther from those that used to be just at our reach. Sending us to depression, pain, anxiety, doubt, hate, fear. Isolating ourselves from help. The very Help we needed to trust in. Maybe it wasn’t our time yet or maybe we needed to learn something vital for our very existence. But our natural pride gets in the way and turns a cold shoulder, making us aloof to Him who holds our ordered pairs on hand. The future in the hands of One who has already been there. The One who talks about our future in past tense... which doesn’t make sense, but is true anyway. Things go from bad to worse in immediacy, especially when we get caught unaware, yet there is always a purpose for those awry situations.

Not only does GOD definitely play dice, but He sometimes confuses us by throwing them where they can't be seen.

~Stephen Hawking

First things first, the second quote from another brain in the scientific community counteracts the primary one. Okay, proceed. Well, yes, we get confused. Both are actually right. In this version, we are lead to discover that the dice-throwing does occur, however, there are distinct elements that manipulate the outcome -- it could be the certain angle, speed, acceleration and manner of throw in such a way that the end-result is exactly as what the Thrower would want it to be. “Now in putting everything in subjection to Him, He left nothing outside His control. At present, we do not yet see everything in subjection to Him.” (Hebrews 2:8)

I believe it is not impossible for the One who controls the universe (Matthew 19:26, Jeremiah 32:27) to create His very own ordered pairs for our lives. We need only to trust Him. When we lack faith, then and there, we can still approach Him (in reference to Mark 9:23-25 as example). It only makes living exciting, you’ll never know what to expect in the succeeding events which are hidden from given spoilers. Amid all the setback in life, if we have the Great Engineer on our side, we could trust that it might as well be a set-up for later advancement (Romans 8:28). Trust Him in all things. Even when it no longer makes any sense and even when it hurts the most. You keep pushing. Even I don’t know exactly what’s about to occur in the next few hours/days/weeks/months/years/decades and my mind is still in a frenzy in thinking what upshot is next in the dice-playing. I guess the word play in the two quotes are somewhat farfetched to our context. <sigh> C’est la vie. So whatever we go through, and in whatever situation we may be in, we can do all things through Him who strengthens us (Philippians 4:13).

GOD bless.
