Random Thoughts…Wandering Mind…Ongoing Saga….

Random Thoughts…Wandering Mind…Ongoing Saga….

It’s been a minute since I last wrote and today, post election day, I thought I’d share a hodgepodge of thoughts. I won’t say much about the elections other than how frightened I am by the horde of MAGA-nuts taking office. I’ve read all the explanations of why so many people were willing to vote against their self-interests, but I’m still stunned that anyone with intelligence and/or who has ever been a victim of discrimination would vote for these heartless and hateful MAGA candidates. But, there have been bright spots in the elections outcomes, so I’ll try to drum up some optimism

I also hate the thought the today likely heralds the start of the 2024 elections. The campaign ads have become unbearable to me and I can only imagine what’s yet to come. That trump will consider to hold prominence in the news sickens me. I’ve given up all hopes of him being held accountable for the treason he committed. Ugh! Enough about him and his cast of miscreants…

1. I feel like I’m focused on too many negative thoughts this morning. Antisemitism is all over the news with idiots like Kanye and Kyrie leading the way. I’ve begun to think that the word ‘antisemitism’ isn’t sufficiently clear to the public and prefer to use ‘Jewish hatred’ to express what these folks (and way too many others) are conveying. Of course, I’m sure that every criticism of Ye and Ky simply breeds many more Jew haters, so no end in sight. But, after 5000 years of this, why would anyone expect any diminishment of Jewish hatred?

2. I attended my 50th college reunion last month.?

3. What to do about Twitter? Many have left the site in protest to Musk’s mishegas but, others advocate for staying and correcting misinformation. I’m finding it to be pointless, mind numbing and excessively repetitive. I guess I just answered my own question! Bye, Elon!

4. Facebook is degrading; Instagram is boring; Tik Tok is of no interest to me (and likely a national security risk) and is Snapchat even around anymore? I like some of what I get from LinkedIn but social media is mostly disappointing. Is there something new coming?

5. Looking forward very much to Thanksgiving when we’ll be with all the kids and grandkids!?

6. We have three international trips already set for 2023 including a four-country excursion to SE Asia, a Penn student trip to India and a family vacation to Norway in celebration of Judy and my 50th anniversary. More about that in later posts. But, we’re excited to see the world again!?

7. What the hell has happened in Israel? Netanyahu back in power? An alliance with the far right? A two-state solution which I have long supported seems more and more distant. I’m full of trepidation about the future.?

8. We’re still waiting for our Vinfast car. They’ve guaranteed the $7500 tax credit even if the car fails to meet US requirements for that credit. We’re told delivery *may* be next summer.?

9. I’m looking for a good biography to read. Toss out some ideas, please.?

10. Our Rancho Gordo bean club box arrived today with 6 pounds of heirloom beans. If you don’t know about Rancho Gordo beans, you’re missing out. Check them out and if they’re still taking new members, consider joining. But, be aware that 6 pounds of beans is not an insignificant amount. That said, the beans are awesome and we’ll be enjoying stews, soups and more all winter!?

Too many fragmented thoughts, but that’s all I’ve got right now.?

Until next time!

Any particular kind of figure you would like to read about? I finished The Woman Who Smashed Codes this summer and really enjoyed it. Happy to lend it to you.
