Random thoughts of a tester

(readme: This is an abstract article, apologies if it does not make sense to you).

Fundamental laws in Physics not only apply to objects but also to humans.

Let's see an example - The definition of a Couple in Physics:

A couple consists of two parallel forces that are equal in magnitude, opposite in sense, and do not share a line of action. It does not produce any translation, only rotation. The resultant force of a couple is zero. But, the resultant of a couple is not zero; it is a pure moment.

The same applies to couples in a relationship :)!

Let's take another example of Hooke's law :

"Within the elastic limit, stress is directly proportional to strain".

This very much applies to all homo sapiens.

This will very well resonate with people who have migraine. My relationship with migraine started when I started working as a "Tester"!

It took a while to understand it is a migraine. I was thinking of a simple headache. When the frequency of headaches increased I started observing scenarios/conditions of the occurrence. My colleague who was seeing my struggle suggested to me to visit an ophthalmologist.

Me: Good evening doctor.

Doc: Very good evening.

Me : (Before even he could ask anything, I started off!). I get headaches under so and so conditions. I showed him notes with 6-7 scenarios.

It contains - major activities one day before the headache /food taken and then during headache with a duration of headache and post headache updates.?

Few minutes of silence.

Doc: What do you work as?

Me: A software tester. (I tried to explain what I do in 2-3 lines).

After the check-up, he explained migraine and Dos and Don't s.

Consulting the same doctor since then. He patiently listens to me. And sometimes, I do read some articles/posts which I have written :)!

Now why I am writing all these?

Over a period of time, I have met at least one person in the project/ next project who has a migraine. Especially testers. This is purely my limited understanding and exposure. It is important to have a support system, especially during severe migraine attacks.

I am fortunate enough to work with migraine-friendly managers and team members. Many colleagues have taken care of me in many ways during the attacks - like getting fruit juices for me as it is important to stay hydrated during that time. Shared some jokes to make me smile :)! Also, sometimes, they offered help to complete my tasks, etc., and I am grateful to each one of them.

It is important to ask for help when needed. "I can manage" is a good attitude but refusing to take help when needed will have a lethal impact.

Ask for help when needed. People do help.

What made me write this?

I was having migraine attacks for the last week. I was managing it "somehow" thinking that "I can manage". Finally reached a threshold when I started vomiting twice. Went to a hospital close by home in the wee hours. 2 injections, 2 ORS, and 1 tablet. Now feeling much better.

Just wanted to capture my raw thoughts during the migraine. Thank you for taking your time to read my random thoughts.?

I have never experienced a migraine. But reading this, I now never even WANT to experience one.

Do you have any warning symptoms or precursors? Mine is strobing at the edges of my vision. That happens about 30 minutes before the headache sets in, allowing me to get ahead of the pain with some Excedrin. It is a non-prescription migraine medication in the US that combines an NSAID pain reliever, non-NSAID pain reliever, and caffeine. I take it with a small snack (to prevent stomach upset from the NSAID and caffeine) when the strobing starts. The medication starts to kick in as the headache comes on and lessens the severity.
