Random Content = "Lorem Ipsum" for Content Professional

As a Content Professional have you ever wondered how to get some random texts for creating a document/ creating a project on Articulate Storyline / testing on website and later on by replacing these texts using some meaningful content?

Example:

If yes, then Lorem Ipsum is the solution.

On Microsoft-Word you can use any of these syntaxes.

=lorem(p) or =rand(p), =lorem(p,s) or =rand(p,s) where p stands for number of paragraphs and s stands for number of sentences in each paragraph.

And then hit Enter/Return key.

Example:?

• =lorem(6) or =rand(6) will create random texts with 6 paragraphs
• =lorem(7,3) or =rand(7,3) will create random texts with 7 paragraphs and 3 sentences in each paragraph

I have checked on my current version of MS-Word 16.62 on Mac OS. It can generate upto maximum 200 paragraphs each of 99 sentences.?These numbers may vary on different versions of MS-word.?

For Articulate Storyline, and MS-Power point you may simply use the same syntax and test it out that works for you.?You can see the limitations by trying yourself. Sometimes =lorem() or =rand() may generate in 3-5 paragraphs.

You may use upto 200 paragraphs each of 99 sentences on Word document. However, there is no significant use of 200 paragraph each of 99 sentences on a articular slide of MS-Powerpoint / Articulate Storyline.

You may use the random texts generated for testing purpose (if you want you can modify the texts) and later on you may replace the random texts with meaningful content.?Depending upon your profession you know where can you use the random content. There may be other ways around to do this on different authoring tool.

Interesting Fact:?

In publishing and graphic design, Lorem Ipsum is a placeholder text (some random texts) commonly used by designers to demonstrate the visual form of a document or a typeface without relying on meaningful content during plan phase. Later on the random content is replaced by meaningful content. This is a best practice in this industry.

Although the text Lorem Ipsum is in Latin, it does not have any intelligible meaning. It's merely a generic text used to hold a place in a file until the actual text or visuals are created to replace it. Versions of the Lorem ipsum text have been used in typesetting at least since the 1960s, and it was introduced to the digital world in the mid-1980s.

Designing tool like Coreldraw has this inbuilt tool in menu and sub-menu to add the placeholder text.

Why not Copying Random Content from Internet:

You may be thinking why you need to use Lorem Ispum syntax? Instead of that you can copy any content available on internet and use the those random content.

Well, this is left you to decide. You know your industry and profession very well - what is right or what is not right, whether copying any website content makes it plagiarised or not.
