We've all heard the saying: "It's the little things that matter." But what if it's not just a saying? What if it's a law of nature?
I'm not talking about gravity or electromagnetism; I'm talking about the fact that small gestures can significantly impact your organization and your #success.
#ramadan2023 is coming this week, and with it comes a chance to celebrate the diversity of your #workforce.
Ramadan is a holy month for Muslims where they seek forgiveness for their sins, pray for guidance, and try to purify themselves through self-restraint and good deeds. Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset throughout this entire month.
This month is important even if you're not Muslim. I will encourage you to take some time to understand why it matters so much to the Muslim community and how employers can celebrate it in ways that make their employees feel respected and included.
It's not just #Muslims who have religious obligations at work. People of all faiths observe different holidays throughout the year, and plenty of ways exist to accommodate them. As an employer, it's essential to understand all of them. Ramadan has become a particular focal point in recent years (thanks in part to the rise in #islamophobia), and all employers must take a moment to consider how they can be culturally sensitive during this time.
Starting with #leadership, the whole organization must embrace the workforce's cultural #diversity by ensuring the employees' needs are known. Regular operations and execution of processes should be reviewed to ensure that flexibility is offered to accommodate these needs inside and outside work.

It also helps if you take time to learn about other cultures, especially if you're planning on hiring people from different countries or backgrounds. This way, you can be aware of how different cultures celebrate things like Ramadan so that you can create an environment where everyone feels welcome and included!
Here are five reasons why Ramadan can offer a lot to #humanresources #strategies:
1) Self-restraint is a positive universal concept - We all struggle in one way or another, whether with food, social media, or spending too much time at work. Ramadan can help us all figure out how to keep ourselves in check by practicing self-restraint in some aspects of our lives. The ability to resist the temptation of doing the same things repeatedly, resist change, or innovate. It will help us make better decisions throughout our lives.
2) A little #tolerance goes a long way - When you're working with people from different countries and cultures, it's important that everyone respects each other's needs. Ramadan allows me to appreciate my coworkers' wishes and my own. There's no need to go overboard with the celebrations or accommodations; just being respectful will mean a lot and forever impact your employees.
3) #Food always brings people together - We all love food! It's one of the few things we can all agree on regarding what makes us happy. Hosting group meals and sitting around one table eating together is an incredibly intimate and kind gesture of love, friendship, and community outreach. So why not take inspiration for your engagement initiative? You'll be on to a winner!
There are many reasons to be excited about the #future of work and the future of diversity and #inclusion. You can lead the change in your organization, community, and the world from your position today. Let's celebrate together.
