RAMADAN 1442

To all my brothers and sisters,

?? ??? ????? ????? ????? ????? ??? ???? ?????? ?????? ????? ??????

I write to you today with a heart full of gratitude as we have all been gifted another opportunity to experience one more beautiful and blessed Ramadan in our lifetime.

This Ramadan is no different to previous Ramadans, except for the fact we still have this thing called COVID-19 hovering around us and some new safety measures to help keep us safe.

Either when looking at these safety measures, we could feel disappointed at not being able to dress up when hosting group iftaars or attend majlis gatherings, or we could see it as an opportunity (yes, a wonderful opportunity!) to detox. To detox from the hustle and bustle of life and use the new COVID-19 measures in our favor by turning inwards and focusing on ourselves by setting new personal goals with the intention to reap the rewards of this blessed month.

What better time to do it than now, as some scientists say it takes approximately 21 days to form a new habit and we all know our efforts will be rewarded tenfold during this month Insha'Allah.

So, today I am going to ask you, what are your intentions upon entering Ramadan? How do you want to emerge from this month? What steps are you going to take to ensure this happens, so you too can form new habits?

For me personally, I want to wake up 30 minutes earlier each day and use this time to reflect. Reflect meaningfully upon my deeds and shortcomings and turn to Allah (swt) for repentance, mercy and blessings. With an earnest prayer that He purifies my heart and soul in doing so, renews my faith. With this rebirth of faith, I want to be better at work, better at home and a better person.
