We are kicking off March with a new series called “The Rally Recap,” a monthly recap on USTA Mid-Atlantic Foundation’s impact around the Mid-Atlantic region.?

Charter Day of Giving

Feb. 3, we celebrated Charter Day! Charter Day is when the Mid-Atlantic Lawn Tennis Association (us back-in-the-day) officially joined the USTA as one of the 17 sections. In other words, it’s USTA Mid-Atlantic Foundation’s 101-year anniversary! To celebrate this year, we asked our tennis community to make a gift of $101 to commemorate our 101-year anniversary.?

Feb. 5, our Social Play Manager, Rachel Rhoney , was invited by the Professional Tennis Registry - PTR to speak during the International Racquets Conference in Saddlebrook Resort on a panel called “How Tennis & Pickleball CoExist for a More Vibrant Facility with David Robinson, Charles Batt, Craig Bobo, Jason Jamison, Rachel Rhoney, & Amy Pazahanick.”?

Play day with Women’s Sports Foundation

On Feb. 6, we partnered with the Women's Sports Foundation , WSF, to participate in a play day for young girls at American University in Washington D.C. Players from the Washington Mystics also joined in the fun and we brought more than 44 players from our Girls Rule the Court? program to join!

Feb. 7, one of our players from Girls Rule the Court? program at Sugarland Elementary School, Ari, joined Women's Sports Foundation on Capitol Hill to speak with members of Congress to advocate the importance of sports for women and girls on the 38th National Girls and Women Sports Day and WSF’s 50th Anniversary in May.?

Centennial Gala featured in Washingtonian Magazine

On Feb. 16, Dan Swartz and Washingtonian Magazine featured USTA Mid-Atlantic Foundation’s Centennial Gala, in their latest roundup of “The Best DC Parties this past December.” The photo featured our CEO Tara Fitzpatrick-Navarro , Professional Tennis Player Frances Tiafoe, President and CEO of Trustar Bank , Shaza Andersen , and Former Professional Tennis Player and Hall of Famer, Pam Shriver.?

CEO Named Finalist for the Top Nonprofit Executive by Loudoun Chamber

Our CEO, Tara Fitzpatrick-Navarro , was nominated as a finalist for the Nonprofit Executive category during the Annual Community & Leadership Awards hosted by the Loudoun Chamber .

Feb. 23, Our Sr. Manager of Play & Community, Warren Waterman , and Community Engagement Coordinator, Eric Cruz , were invited to the USPTA & PTR Mid-Atlantic conference to share the state of Tennis in the Mid-Atlantic. During the conference, they shared how USTA Mid-Atlantic Foundation can help teaching professionals with resources and promotional opportunities.?
