Rakesh Baba, An English Teacher I Never Forget

Teacher's Day in India is celebrated on September 5 every year. It coincides with the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, a renowned Indian philosopher, statesman, and former President of India.

Dr. Radhakrishnan was a passionate educator and believed that teachers play a crucial role in shaping the future of a nation. His contributions to education and his commitment to excellence have made him a revered figure in India.

On Teacher's Day in India, schools and colleges organize various events and activities to honor their teachers. Students express their gratitude through cards, gifts, and performances. Teachers are often treated to special lunches or dinners and may be awarded for their outstanding contributions.

As Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan did for many students in India and overseas too, I was so influenced by Mr. Rakesh Baba, who is my English teacher from 6th to 8th in Delhi, India.

His style of teaching always created some magic. Those days, learning English was such a gigantic task for everyone, especially those who had not learned English as a second language from the start. Apart from English, he used to teach about Indian history and civics as well.

After I passed 8th grade, unfortunately I was never able to meet due to a school change, and he also transferred somewhere.

I tried a lot to meet him at least once, a lot of searching on the internet too, but failed.?

Whenever this 5th of September comes, his fond memories look wise in my eyes.
