Veteran journalist Rajat Sharma and his news channel, India TV, have secured a significant legal victory in the Delhi High Court. The Court issued an interim order protecting their trademarks, logos, and Sharma's personality rights from unauthorized use.
The lawsuit stemmed from the illegal exploitation of intellectual property by a third party identified as "Jhandiya TV." Jhandiya TV was allegedly using logos and the name "Baap Ki Adalat," which bear a deceptive resemblance to India TV's "Aap Ki Adalat" program and logo.
India TV and Sharma had filed a lawsuit seeking a permanent injunction to prevent such infringement. The Delhi High Court, acknowledging the merits of their case, issued an interim order granting the following protections:
