Rajasthan Announces 150 Units of Free Electricity and Solar Power Expansion in Budget 2025

Rajasthan has introduced a game-changing initiative in its 2025 budget: 150 units of free electricity per month for households. This move, presented by Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Diya Kumari, aims to make electricity more affordable and accessible for residents while promoting renewable energy.

To boost solar power adoption, the government plans to install solar panels in eligible homes. For households without space for panels, community solar plants will be set up to ensure everyone can benefit from solar energy. This step is expected to increase the use of clean energy and reduce reliance on traditional power sources.

The budget also focuses on expanding electricity access across the state. It includes:

• 5 lakh new domestic electricity connections for households.
• 5,000 new agricultural connections to help farmers save costs and improve productivity.

To strengthen the power infrastructure, Rajasthan will upgrade its electricity grid, build new transmission lines, and improve supply in both urban and rural areas. Additionally, under the Prime Minister Gram Sadak Yojana, 1,600 settlements will be connected to paved roads, improving electricity access in remote villages. A ?500 crore investment will ensure a stable power supply to 500 villages.

The government is also working to make electricity usage more efficient by modernizing the distribution network, improving billing systems, and promoting smart meters. These efforts aim to reduce energy wastage and make power consumption more sustainable.
