Raising Money for Student Mental Health with YoungMinds #HelloYellow Campaign [Reupload]

As mental health awareness becomes more and more prominent in our society, it is important to take action and show support for those who are struggling. That's why I was thrilled to be able to participate in Young Minds' annual campaign, #HelloYellow, by holding a bake sale.

The campaign aims to raise awareness for young people's mental health, and wearing yellow is a way to show support. However, I wanted to take it further and raise funds for the cause, so I hosted a bake sale.

To ensure everyone felt included, I baked various yellow cakes, some vegan and some containing dairy or eggs. I also created personalised posters and dietary warnings for each cake, ensuring everyone knew exactly what they were getting.

The bake sale occurred over lunchtime, and I sold the cakes for 40p each. In addition to the cakes, I left out counselling booklets and other resources covering different mental health problems, such as depression and anxiety, so that people could get support if they needed it.

I was thrilled to see how many people were interested in the bake sale and how many people stopped to grab a cake and a booklet. Ultimately, we raised £50.51 for the campaign, which is a great accomplishment for my first fundraiser.

Overall, it's important to take action and do what we can to support those who are struggling with mental health issues. Whether by holding a fundraiser, spreading awareness, or simply being a good listener, every little bit helps. I'm excited to continue supporting causes like #HelloYellow and to see what else I can do to make a difference.
