Raising funds and awareness

At empowermefirst we believe in the values of life long learning through challenges. As a leader founder Brigit Koch is setting an example by challenging herself to cycle from Port Elizabeth to Cape Town (a bit over 800 km) in 10 days.

The preparation day - meeting a treasure hunter

At empowermefirst we believe in never giving up – defining goals and applying knowledge to find?solutions that work for us, even if it’s not how it’s always been done, is our way to slow, but study success.

A challenging day in wind

We are hands-on. And so is founder Brigit, who is currently cycling the 800km from Port Elizabeth to Cape Town proving perseverance, courage and commitment – values we live as an example to our students.

On the second day of her bike fundraiser Brigit rode along huge dairy farms, hills, low income villages and very long stretches of pine being planted for timber by a multinational company. These trees are not indigenous to South Africa and are destroying the soil.

She saw a modern country that still depends strongly on manual labor - also to create jobs. She observed birds and saw two groups of monkeys.

Wolves in South Africa?

No, they are not native to the country but have been brought in as an exotic animal.

At the Tsitsikamma wolf sanctuary, the team are raising funds for the wolves abandoned by their owners through sustainable tourism, planting trees in an area surrounded by pine plantations, which are not indigenous to the area and are destroying the soil.

At empowermefirst we teach students how to use their knowledge to make informed decisions such as using indigenous plants and animals for farming.

Please support us by sharing this, volunteering and with a donation! - An exciting raffle awaits all donors, new prizes published daily. Please check out the website: https://empowermefirst.college/bike_challenge_23/
