Raising Awareness on Fall Prevention

Whether you’re building up or digging down, you run the risk of falling.

A fall is one of the leading causes of death in construction, but with the proper safety precautions, this is completely preventable.

Here are just a few ways to avoid taking an unexpected dive at work:

  • If you’re working in high places, wear a safety harness to prevent an accidental freefall. If you do not have a harness, ask for one to be provided before proceeding with your work.
  • When using a ladder, never stand on the top two rungs. Stay within the middle range where you have better control of your center of balance.
  • Always have a spotter. Though they may not be able to catch you if you fall from a great enough height, they can do the next best thing and call for help immediately.

What are your best practices for fall prevention? Let us know in the comments below.

Don’t downplay the gravity of this important safety issue!
