#rainyday

We are into peak of the great Indian Summer & are eagerly awaiting Monsoons 2022. Monsoons are truly a blessing having faced the brunt of the rising global temperatures every year.

And as the rains set in - they usher in some unpredictable challenges along with. On some days the weather conditions are bad and likely to damage our property in some way or the other. Here’s a quick checklist of things to do before monsoons to avoid and minimise any damages occurring thereon.

ROOF

Carry out Roof inspection – get your Terrace water proofing inspected. Engage professional Water proofing consultants / companies on the job rather than relying on your local masons.

Install rain gutters/spouts along the eaves in case your house has a sloping roof. If already installed ensure they are cleared of any debris/leaves/clogging to ensure smooth flow of water.

COMPOUND / PODIUM

Ensure the storm water channels in your compound or Landscaped podium is free of any clutter on account of dry leaves, garbage etc. Look out if any water clogging pockets are developed in monsoons within the premises. Needless to mention these translate into breeding grounds for mosquitoes. Get periodical fogging done.

TREES

Conduct a survey of any aged trees around you which are likely to get uprooted by heavy winds. Get a formal consent from concerned Municipal authorities and engage them to trim the excessive foliage of aged trees. This decreases the load on the trunk and prevents uprooting. Stake newly planted trees to prevent loosening of soils arising out of swaying of plants due to strong winds.

ELECTRICAL SAFETY

Conduct a safety check on all electrical connections before hand to avoid any occurrences of short circuits. Keep a check on water clogging of substations within your premises. Ensure proper drainage of such sensitive installations. Involve local administration for any assistance in case of any mishaps.

WEATHER ALERTS

Subscribe to weather alerts on storms/heavy downpour/flash floods etc. and obey the instructions issued by the local authorities from time to time. There’s a tendency to be adventurous reaching out to work place braving all the odds on a rainy day. Its time to exercise restraint and stay safe stay indoors thus avoiding any load on the already overloaded infrastructure of the metropolis.
