A Mantra is a series of phrases or words that are sung or chanted during meditation. Mantra meditation uses dedicated words to achieve the user’s goals. It is more than a repeated phrase. Saying any word over and over again is not a mantra. A mantra provides an array of spiritual, mental, and physical healing for the practitioner. Furthermore, saying an inspirational quote or writing it down does not make it a mantra. It is the energy created in the chanting or singing that makes the saying a mantra.
Mantra meditation has become increasingly popular in recent years. The practice consists of the two individual components of chanting mantras and meditating and has a different purpose for every person. Mantra meditation requires consistent practice, but is simple and can effect many positive changes in your life. Every person has a different reason for meditating from health benefits to attaining a spiritual connection. Figuring out why you want to use mantra meditating will help you identify the best mantras to chant and time to dedicate to your meditation practice.
Actually what happens is when I was a small kid my parents used to teach me that - always pray for the welfare of the people. The shloka which they used to ask me to recite everyday morning was “Sarve jana sukhino Bhavantu” (means the people all over the world should be happy). As a kid I always used to pray this way. It became a habit. Whenever I pray in front of God first thing I tell is “Sarve Jana Sukhino Bhavantu” after this I just wish good things for the people whom I love and care about. I truly believe that if we pray for someone wholeheartedly the prayers are going to be answered. That's the other thing whenever I get scared I start reciting Hanuman Chalisa in my mind.
Morning Prayer/Mantra in Hindu Culture are very important and helpful to start our day in beautiful way, there are lots of Mantra & Prayer people chant in the morning according to devotion. following are the famous Mantra/Prayers: Aditya Hriday Stotra - Chant for Sun to get Name, Fame, Courage while giving "Arghya" with turmeric water to rising Sun every morning. Shri Suktam - Chant for Goddess Laxmi to get prosperity and money.
Gayatri Mantra - Chant to Balance your life for over all prosperity. Hanuman Chalisa/Ashtakam - Chant for Lord Hanuman to get Wisdom, protection from Negativity, Courage & prosperity. Durga Stuti/Kavach - Recite for Goddess Durga to get protection and prosperity. Ganpati Mantra - to remove obstacles from life. Also there are many more like Shiv Tandav Stotra, Kali Stotra, Chandi Stotra, Bhairav Ashtakam, Bilvashtakam etc which you can choose based on your trust and devotion to the god.
Though any mantra having “Om” in it will be much effective ,,that too in morning. Infact , only chanting “Om” will do the work . There’s this fact that , Om itself is a significant source of peacefulness and helps you find the path of the ultimate. Other equally essential mantras are:- Maha Mrityunjay Mantra - “Om tryambakam yajaamahe sughandhim pushtivardhanam urva rukmiva bandhanan mrityormokhshaya maamritaa om”.
Saraswati Vidya Mantra - “ ya devi sarvabhooteshu vidya roopen sansthitha ,namastsya namastasya namo namah”. Om sehna Bhavatu - “Om sehna vavattu , sehno bhunattu , sehviryam karvaavahe , tejasvinaav dheetamastu , maa vidhvishaa vahe ..om shaanti shaanti shaanti hi”. Chant them and you will automatically start to feel calm and patient. Vibes of postive energy will start to emerge altogether.
Usefulness of Mantras in Meditation: Mantras give the wandering mind a focal point. They produce a beat and a flow that is easy for the mind and body’s energy system to grasp a hold of. When the mind wants to wander out of the meditative state, the mantra helps bring it back. The rhythm of the mantra provides an easy channel for energy to flow in and out of. If the person meditating knows the meaning of the mantra, it can improve the effectiveness of the mantra.
Knowing the Meaning of a Mantra: When people think of mantra meditation, the first phrase that comes to mind is “Om”. Om is an ancient Hindu word that means, “It is” or “To become”. Even if the chanter knows the meaning of Om, for anyone who is new to the practice, the meaning has little power behind it. What is important during the chanting of Om is the vibration it creates in the body. These vibrations create Neuro-linguistic effects. These effects induce a sense of calm. They often help people with serious diseases such as AIDS, Parkinson’s, and cancer who feel a sense of hopelessness feel hope again.
When the meaning of a mantra is known to the person meditating Psycho-linguistic effects are added to the Neuro-linguistic effects. Psycho-linguistic effects are highly effective in goal -oriented meditation. Often, someone who is trying to overcome an addiction or start a new habit will use these types of mantras. They imprint themselves on the subconscious. When the person comes out of the meditative state, the mantra is still working in their mind to inhibit their addiction. This practice works well for those trying to achieve a higher goal by convincing our subconscious minds that we can succeed. Even when our conscious mind doubts our abilities, our subconscious can believe strongly enough for us to succeed. Often when people are surprised by their success their subconscious is not.
Yogis have different methods to revive their bodies, but ultimately with the intention of drawing yourself inward. Among many, chanting ‘Mantras’ are a powerful tool for accomplishing this. Thus, chanting mantras makes it easier for any Yogi to reach to that transcendent state more easily. A mantra is a sound, word, or group of words that is considered capable of “creating transformation.”
Physical Benefits of Mantras: All mantras have intense physical benefits as under: They relieve stress. The rhythm and sound of the chanting moves energy throughout the body. The movement of energy regulates the chemicals in our brains. It blocks stress hormones and releases endorphins. They regulate heart rate. Mantras enhance positive alpha, gamma, delta, and the brainwaves—the brainwaves that kick in during relaxation.
Mantra chanting increases immune functions, and lower blood pressure. The sound of the mantra literally drowns out the negative voices in our heads. When the negative thoughts are suppressed, the mind has room for positive thoughts. It is a free and easy way to manage thoughts and achieve physical and mental welfare. Mantras ease fear. People with phobias often adapt mantras to center on during times of fear.
? – Om/Aum ‘Om’ is the all-pervading, omnipotent and omnipresent sound of the Cosmos. For this reason, it is also referred as ‘Pranava’; the energy that runs in our Prana. ‘Om’ is not just regarded as a word, it is an intonation produced by coalescing the three Sanskrit syllables (Au-Oh-Mm); which on concentrated repetition give a threefold experience on the physical, mental and the astral plane.

3 年“Mantras” indeed have so much power and they help raising the frequencies around. Praying for others, chanting etc are all amazing things to do.???? But, still ……According to me. Including people , accepting people, listening to them regardless , is the highest form of praying or meditation. For example- I devote most of the time in listening to people and their concerns or the feedback they give, replying each one of them is far more important to me instead of Writing what I have to write. This gives me immense pleasure when i feel that they’re heard , and also it helps me understand people more, connect with them more. This is an exercise for me, to stay “Fit” for the role i am holding and kind of ‘cleansing’. Great share… baba ??
