"The Rain" A Horrorgraph by Yvette Kendall

The Rain

It’s raining again. This time I’m prepared. I cut off all the lights, grabbed a knife and found a corner to cower in. Always with my back against the wall, I don't know why? I think that’s important. I’m not afraid of the rain beating against my windows or the crashing thunder echoing in the night air. I’m terrified because the rain brings them here. I can hear their footsteps sloshing through the muddy puddles of water outside my house. Yanking on the window sills and smacking at the glass with their mucousy tentacle-like fingers. As much as they want to get me, they can’t quite figure out how to get in. Their gurgled breathing drowns out the ambient noise of the overcast skies, a harbinger of the doom awaiting me. I'm the only one left, not sure how long I can hold out; because the rain, it just won't stop.
