Rain drops make a beautiful sound and it is my favourite meditation use apart from sea waves.
Try this lovely piece of sound of rain for meditation, it is so soothing and calming on nerves (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d0Xi5yYIUo4 )
Rain is always so beautiful as it wets the entire world and the nature comes alive with the rain fall and the plants and all the greenery around makes our life so cool and wonderful to look at. But, when rain falls heavily nonstop like cats and dogs; the rain drops hit the ground with a force. This can cause the rain drops to bounce off the soil instead of infiltrating into the soil. The water from the rain is then forced to flow over the surface instead, thus increasing the surface runoff. These small rain drops may look very beautiful to watch however few hours of continuous rain fall is sufficient to cause flooding of roads and low lying areas in the cities and also causes floods in rivers overflowing their normal limits.
A flood occurs when a river or stream overflows its banks. Seasonal floods are the norm in many rivers, for example when spring rains or continuous snow melt in the mountains increase the flow. During a flood, the channel is completely filled and water moves onto the floodplain and slows down. The most common cause of flooding is prolonged rainfall. If it rains for a long time, the ground will become saturated and the soil will no longer be able to store water leading to increased surface runoff. As well as prolonged rainfall, brief periods of heavy rain can also lead to floods.
Flooding occurs most commonly from heavy rainfall when natural watercourses do not have the capacity to carry excess water. In the coastal areas, water inundation can be caused by a storm surge as a result of a tropical cyclone, a tsunami or a high tide coinciding with higher than normal river levels, the sea levels rise due to continuous rain showers hitting the sea water making it swell in size and we can see enormous size of waves hitting the shores
Heavy rainfall and flooding can wash soil, rock and sediment away into rivers and streams. Water erosion reshapes shorelines and deposits soil in new locations. Materials can be swept away by the water's force or dissolved in the water and washed away. Prolonged rainfall - if it rains for a long time, over full day or night, the land around a river can become saturated (it's holding as much water or moisture as can be absorbed). Heavy rainfall causes the chance of it being soaked up by the soil (infiltration ) so it runs off into the river.
Flash flooding occurs within 6 hours of the rain event. Flooding is a longer term event and may last a week or more. Flooding along rivers is a natural and inevitable part of life. Flood water is teeming with dangerous bacteria and contaminants, which can lead to sickness and disease. The worst contamination is caused by sewers or drains backing up in urban areas, or runoff from agricultural chemicals and animal waste in rural areas. The drain water when mixed with rain water causes huge amount of flooding of contaminated water which causes many skin diseases as well serious health pandemics. Whenever the rainfall greater than 100 mm in 24 hours. Often, a significant amount of precipitation occurs in only a few hours, leading to severe flooding and landslide risk.
Human factors increasing flood risk include increased urbanisation , because towns and cities have more impermeable surfaces, deforestation is one of the major reasons, because removing trees reduces the amount of water intercepted and increases run-off water from the loose soil which would be otherwise held tightly by trees and roots. 4 年Love this... The in-depth knowledge you articulated here..is amazing to read... Whenever the seasons orbit rounds about, we wish for the rain to arrive, yet with an extended duration of torrential rain certainly damages the flow in the earth, which makes me think that how suddenly everything in the nature is taking a roundabout to make all of us sense how thanklessly we have been using her for decades now... Regardless I also love the tune of falling rain ??....
