Our latest Coffee with the Editor features Claudio Bacigalupi , Head of Cooperation at the EU Delegation to Zambia and COMESA, who will be presenting at the upcoming Land-Linked Zambia 2024 event. Scheduled for the 4th and 5th of April 2024 at Ciela Resort in Lusaka, this event is themed “Connecting Zambia and SADC by land to facilitate trade, investments, and ease of movement of goods and people.”

The Technical Committee of the African Development Bank Group met on 18 March 2024 in Abidjan and approved the new work programme for 2024. The committee, responsible for monitoring the work of the AfDB’s Urban and Municipal Development Fund (UMDF), allocated a total of US$4.5 million to support projects in 14 African municipalities and local authorities.

Upgrades Set For Nakonde Border Post To Boost Zambia-Tanzania Trade
The Government of Zambia, represented by the Ministry of Finance and National Planning, and TradeMark Africa (TMA), have entered into a Partner Support Agreement (PSA) to upgrade the Nakonde One Stop Border Post, a key trade route between Zambia and Tanzania. Funded by the UK government, the ZMK 197 million (£7.1 million) project will improve the flow of goods and people along the Dar es Salaam Corridor, promising to streamline operations and reduce cargo clearance times by more than 100% on both sides of the border. Currently, it takes more than two days to clear cargo trucks crossing the border, leading to significant delays and losses for businesses.

6 个月Our railway lines some are still closed and some still under renovation and some are damaged and we know our economy almost lied in our railways lines so its important for our routes to be opened especially the ones our government already done with renovations .
