Railway meets Cybersecurity

Yesterday, I’m invited to a panel talk on the UNIFE booth on InnoTrans focusing Cybersecurity certification and standardization

?NIS2, CRA, CSA, IEC PT63452, TSI’s and SystemPillar leaflets are helpful to define and force security into the (often) safety relates systems in railway. On the other hand, every requirement need rare resources on both sides.

?It was a fruitful talk with Enno Wiebe (as new chair of UNIFE) and Christian Paulsen (Siemens Mobility) highlighting important topics to discuss and solve.

Selection of topics identified:

·??????? the need of educations for OT Security experts to handle systems in a secure way

·??????? understand and respect needs and pinpoints of the partner.

·??????? decrease national special requirements by the national governments.

·??????? balance between over- and to less standardization, benefit for security and cost to fulfill.

·??????? act in a stronger trusted partnership to solve challenges economic (TCO view).

?Most important for a successful railway in future: “one voice”

?Mr. Nicolas Nicolas Furio, (Head of Technical Affairs) and UNIFE representative, Mr. Jean-Philippe Gachot (Senior Adviser on ERTMS and Operations in CER) and Mr. Michel Ruesen (Managing director of ERTMS User group) and many honored active members of the rail cybersecurity family, The IEC-PT63452, ERJU SystemPillar e.g. in the auditorium indicates the importance of cybersecurity.

Thanx to Mr. Enno Wiebe (General Director UNIFE) to organize and leed the talk.

2,5 long days with many talks about Cybersecurity, regulation, product, and system requirements. The gap between vendors vision of certification, possible solution, the state of the art and the needs of operator to NIS2 and CRA with a lot of product or system supplier in railway. Also get in touch with colleges from the ERJU DAC project, build bridges and start to speed up the project over all. And many many more fruitful talks for railway.
