Rail Aid – making a difference

Rail Aid – making a difference

Next week (22nd - 27th November) businesses and organisations across our sector will come together to participate in Rail Aid, which aims to raise much needed funds for industry charity Railway Children.

The charity has been hit hard by Covid-19, with the Railway Ball cancelled and the Porterbrook sponsored Three Peaks Challenge postponed until May next year.

As a Rail Aid Ambassador I have pledged Porterbrook's support for this initiative and have encouraged our suppliers to get involved as well.

As part of our support we have already donated 25 name plates for the live auction which is taking place on the evening of the 26th November. You can see the lots and bid for them here.

The full Rail Aid programme can be found on-line here. If you register in advance for the programme of events you could win a £100 of Amazon vouchers!

Within Porterbrook we are also playing our part. Colleagues have signed up to commit one day of their commute, we will have an internal auction of some of our heritage nameplates and, last but not least, six members of the Porterbrook executive have volunteered for our own Smooth Operator challenge - with the person who receives the most votes having their legs waxed in support of Rail Aid!

Rail Aid a great opportunity to come together as an industry or as a business to raise funds for Railway Children, which really needs all our help at this challenging time.

If you can spare the time and a couple of pounds, please do get involved. You could make all the difference.
