Yes, you read that right.
Every day as I speak with friends, professional networks, clients, they all still find it difficult to even use the phrase “mental health” in relation to how they feel.
"I'm just overwhelmed at work"
"It's not a big deal, I can handle it"
"I'm alright, can't complain"
Men, your feelings are as valid as anyone else's.
?Depression is not a weakness
?Crying is not a weakness
?Seeking or accepting support is not a weakness
So here are three reasons why many men still struggle with opening up about their mental health:

Men are much more likely to accept help when there's a chance for reciprocity – that is when they perceive an opportunity to help the other person in return. This wards off the feeling of “weakness” that is often associated with asking for help.

Men experience similar symptoms of some mental health concerns as women, but it's how they manifest and present those symptoms can be different. They'd make it look like it's just "acting out"

And that is the most common one here. Most men are surrounded by people who either can't understand the situation or they are not educated enough on the topic. Which leads to a wrong way of responding to the issue such as dark humor or toxic habits.
While we as a society have done a much better job of reducing stigma and expanding opportunities for support, but our men still may be experiencing shame and guilt that could lead to them being less willing to ask for help - and it’s literally killing them.
