RADISSON BLU, INTERCONTINENTAL, STEIGENBERGER AND ROSEWOOD AMONG BIG WINNERS AT EGTA
The third edition of the European Group Travel Awards in Berlin attracted a record attendance at the prestigious Berlin Intercontinental Hotel.
EGTA was created two years ago by HotelPlanner, the largest seller of online group travel in the world. Cleverdis is a leading sponsor of the event.
This year’s EGTA included, for the first time, Europe’s top professional sports events for groups, such as PDC, Euroleague, RFL and the PGA. “The addition of these sporting events brought great energy to the event and great media attention leading up to the awardsâ€, says HotelPlanner CEO Tim Hentschel.
Back in Berlin for the third time, the organisers say there could be no better location for such an event, thanks largely to the proximity of ITB Berlin – the World’s biggest travel and tourism trade event. “We love the support we get from ITB Buyer’s Circle and ITB Berlin News, both of whom make this event such a big successâ€, adds Hentschel.
Hentschel says he noted great enthusiasm from the show’s VIP presenters and great excitement from all the winners and nominees. In all, around 300 people attended the awards hosted again by US presenter Dylan Ratigan – assisted on the stage by HotelPlanner’s Regional Product Director – Greater Los Angeles Area, Aria Taddey, while well over a thousand were estimated to have attended the after-hours party with star DJ David Vendetta. This year’s charity partner was Aquafirm – an association that’s working towards ensuring the provision of clean, chemical-free water to millions of people in underprivileged zones around the world.
