This week’s events at Goals House spotlighted transformative solutions across climate action, global health and sustainable development. ??? The Youth Climate Justice Fund and the Urban Movement Initiative Fund convened on the power of inter generational collaboration, while Nia Tero transported us on an immersive journey to Indigenous territories, offering a moment to release climate anxiety and inspire resilience and hope. Macquarie Asset Management tackled decarbonisation solutions in the energy transition and UNOPS led a vital conversation on rebuilding from conflict for lasting peace. Discussions hosted by the The Global Fund, Clinton Global Initiative, Reaching the Last Mile, and Delta Philanthropies showcased the critical role of partnerships and catalytic funding in health and well-being. The day ended with a dinner hosted by Systemiq Ltd. where leaders reflected on the journey towards scaling purpose-driven capital, capped off with a nightcap featuring SMI leaders. #GoalsHouse #UNGA

????We had a full house at our Happy Hour yesterday in New York! Together with Proximate, Casa Socio-Environmental Fund (Fundo Casa Socioambiental), and Youth Climate Justice Fund (YCJF), we welcomed partners and allies to kick off #ClimateWeekNYC, reflecting on ensuring resources reach the communities they are meant for and how to amplify this message within the right circles. We heard from Juliana Tinoco, Executive Coordinator of Alianza, Maria Amalia Souza, Founder and Director of Strategic Development at Fundo Casa, Cherelle Fruean, Community Manager at YCJF, and Ben Wrobel, Editor & Co-Founder of Proximate, who shared insights on the role of locally-led development in reshaping climate philanthropy. The Happy Hour was a crucial moment to showcase how Global South actors have proven that the tools to localize climate philanthropy already exist—Global South funds being one of those key tools. Guests also had the opportunity to learn more about each of Alianza’s member funds through posters highlighting their important work in advancing socio-environmental justice. This event aimed to encourage everyone to use this week in New York to give visibility and traction to this essential agenda. ?? Happening today: Don’t miss our next event "From Commitment to Action: Global and Local Cooperation for Locally-Led Development" ? 16:30–18:45 ET ?? ??Locally-Led Development in Focus Despite global efforts to channel more resources directly to local communities, progress remains slow, with many civil society organizations facing increasing barriers to their work. As a side event to #UNGA79 and in alignment with #ClimateWeekNY, where many discussions will focus on localizing climate funding, we will gather with WINGS, GivingTuesday, and The Global Fund for Community Foundations to discuss how we can move from commitment to action in supporting community-based movements. We invite you to be part of this conversation and explore how international funding communities are shifting power and resources to those who need them most. We look forward to having you join us online! ??From Commitment to Action: Global and Local Cooperation for Locally-Led Development? ?? Date & Time: 23 September 2024, 16:30–18:45 ET ??
