Raclette

?? ??I popped in a morsel of boiled potato smothered with cheese, not just any cheese. We were having a raclette dinner, my son brought from his recent trip to Switzerland. ?? The taste explodes and brings tears to my eyes, it wasn’t because it was too hot, I felt my head and heart go through something surreal, transporting me back many years ago, living in Basel ??. The next feeling took me by surprise and felt a deep profound sadness. My son observing, looked at me with concern and asked, if I was alright then proceeded to say, do you regret leaving?

?

I started to explain why I left and decided to return to Canada ??, and over the years, how my life evolved from travelling ?? ?? ??, moving countries, ?? ?? ??living in different cities ?? ??, relationship breakups ??and having to start all over again. It was a bit overwhelming going through the experiences and feeling the full impact at the same time. Then I declared, I never wanted to leave but felt it was the right thing to do. I wanted to pursue my career in an English-speaking country and that was always my story. Although, if you know me, I didn’t stay very long and moved to the UK shortly after.

?

Here I am, who I am today, a entrepreneur. a business coach, a systems strategist and a mother. All these didn’t happen in a short time. I had to restart, rebrand and find myself over the years through personal development, spirituality, upskilling, taking courses, certification and managing teams, a company. A serial entrepreneur. A firefighter in a business suit. ?? ?? ??

How does this apply to you? If you take a moment to list down all your accomplishments as far as you can remember, you will be surprised to learn just how wonderful and amazing you truly are. When times make you doubtful, take out this list to remind yourself, add on as many new accomplishments and experiences however small. ?

3 Tips I can share with you:

?????? Reflect on Your Journey and Accomplishments When regret creeps in, it’s easy to focus on what didn’t go as planned. Instead, take a step back and reflect on the journey you've had. Just like the way you’ve evolved through personal experiences and decisions. Make a list of your accomplishments, projects you're proud of, and the hurdles you've overcome. This will remind you how much you've achieved and that each step—right or wrong—has contributed to your unique path.

??Reframe Regret as a Learning Opportunity Regret often stems from decisions we wish we could undo. But every experience, even the ones we regret, teaches us something valuable. Instead of dwelling on what could’ve been, ask yourself: What did this teach me? Use these lessons to shape your future work, your strategies, and your professional growth. By reframing your regret, you can transform it into a stepping stone for improvement

??Embrace Change and adaptability

Regret often signals that it's time to adapt or change. Whether it’s a project you feel didn’t land or a career move that feels uncertain, see it as a moment to pivot and refine your approach. As you’ve experienced in your personal life, change leads to growth. In the ever-evolving field of creativity, adaptability is key. Embrace these moments as catalysts to reinvent yourself, explore new styles, or connect with new audiences.

Feeling regret is natural emotion, but by shifting your perspective, you can use it to fuel your growth rather than hold you back. Have an amazing day!

Great story Marjorie and great point. Reframing our mind's perception to a kinder and, often, more accurate one is so important as is embracing change - the one constant.
