Racism in professional lives is alive and thriving

BBC article on the post office inquiry triggered me this morning prompting me to vent.
Racism within the professions is becoming more widespread, not less.
It is much more than unconscious bias that it is normally claimed to be.
Attitudes towards race paint a picture of several professions struggling with unacknowledged racism where people still feel that the colour of their skin hinders their careers.
#postoffice was outed as the winner the most widespread miscarriage of justice in recent times in the UK. The 'investigation guidance', an official document issued in 2008 (unbelievable!) proudly used #racism in its core.
Whilst the Post Office was prosecuting Subpostmasters for crimes they didn’t commit, it was also asking its investigators if their suspects were “Negroid Types”. This was as recently as 2008.
Creating the more #diverse, #equitable, and #inclusive economy that we all deserve requires acknowledgment of discrimination and an examination of how current policies and practices are perpetuating exclusion across all business functions.
Companies hop on the #diversity bandwagon like they’re down for the cause when a closer look exposes a lack of thought, understanding, and intention. This is widespread issue.
To achieve the visible and invisible diversity that matters and truly reflects the unique composition of our communities, we need to get real about #dei. Unfortunately, we seem to be in a galaxy far far away from the truth.
