The Racing Foundation aims to make a difference to the horseracing industry by grant giving and supporting improvement.
Racing Foundation releases 2023 Annual Review
In 2023, the Racing Foundation made grant payments totalling £3.3million to fund charitable activities for the benefit of the racing industry in the areas of people, equine welfare, community engagement and environmental sustainability.?
It also provided a £7.5m loan to the Horserace Betting Levy Board (HBLB) as a contribution towards the Weighing Room Loan Scheme being offered to racecourses.?
Racing Foundation releases 2024 Strategy
2023 represented the final year of the Racing Foundation’s 2021-2023 strategy.?
A single year strategy has been released led by an updated purpose statement ‘to work in partnership with the racing industry to ensure a sustainable future for the sport’ and an updated ambition statement ‘to develop understanding and action around the key charitable issues facing racing and to assist the industry with developing a collaborative and strategic response’.?
The Racing Foundation will maintain support for the same four key areas of focus and will?help strengthen racing’s social licence.?
Racing Foundation-funded survey launched to enhance stud staff careers
A survey has been launched with the aim of enhancing stud staff careers. Funded by the Racing Foundation and administered by Public Perspectives, this survey is a collaborative effort supported by key industry partners including the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), Horseracing Industry People Board (HIPB), The Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association (TBA), National Association Of Racing Staff (NARS), and Racing Welfare .
Running from March 2024 to mid April 2024, the survey is part of a wider programme of research conducted by the racing and thoroughbred breeding industries around recruitment, skills and retention and the associated support to help staff get the most out of their careers in the industry.

Survey released to explore experiences of ethnically diverse communities in British racing
People from ethnically and culturally diverse backgrounds working in British racing are being invited to share their views and experiences of the industry through a short feedback survey.
The survey?is now open and will run until Friday May?31 2024.?
It is open to everyone working in British racing, particularly people from ethnically and culturally diverse backgrounds, as well as those who might have worked with or observed the experiences of their ethnically diverse colleagues.
Horse Welfare Board announces results of first Thoroughbred Census funded by the Racing Foundation
Details of 8,256?former racehorses were submitted by their owners during Britain’s first-ever Thoroughbred Census, 5,566 of which were previously unrecorded.?
The six-month census was launched last year by British racing’s Horse Welfare Board (HWB) and funded by the Racing Foundation as part of its 3-year, £3 million grant.
