Rachel gets a high First at Oxford in Chinese

After four years of persistent hard work and dedication (one of the years in Beijing) and over 16 hours of final exams within a fortnight, I'm proud to say that Rachel has her First, with an average of 75 and an 80 in her dissertation. Helluva way to say farewell to Oxford, with not a single open library and taking every exam - her entire final term - from our house in Orpington (as did her boyfriend Tetsu, pictured, who also achieved a First, in music). And she still doesn't know whether the three-year Master's course at Peking University she starts in September will start online or in Beijing. But, at the moment, we're just celebrating the achievement of her dream since she was aged about seven (an Oxford First) and about 15 (in Chinese Literature). EVERY young person to graduate in 2020 deserves a medal - the stress levels must have been quadrupled!! But to achieve at this level, when she actually had Covid in her final term, is something else. Could not be prouder.
