The race to the finish line

Why is everyone in such a blinkin’ hurry?
Well life is perilously short and stress levels are very high. So, we’re rarely afforded the time to stop and look at the ocean; to allow ourselves to see the individual ripples on the vast rolling waves.
Waves are made up of many smaller waves - if you sit and stare for long enough you will see the tiny ripples that cause the sun to sparkle across the rolling breakers. It is not the waves themselves that twinkle in the light, it is the smaller movements within the water that causes the sun to truly dance.
Yet we are in such a rush to reach the finish line, we never really consider the benefit of getting there, let alone enjoying the journey on the way.
Take your time to see the waves for what they really are. It will help you discover what the finish line really is, rather than simply how to get there.
And I am sure that many will discover the finish line wasn’t what you really wanted in the first place.

7 年Thank you for this poignant reminder. It is so easy to focus on striving for the finish line and not appreciate the joy of the journey. Yet it is during the journey that we learn the most and gain the greatest self awareness if we allow ourselves to do so.
