Back in the early 2000's, we were at a trade show, meeting with a buying group. Our presentation did not go well. All they wanted to hear is how much more of a discount we can offer.

Next was a Chinese gentleman who placed a stool on the floor, and proclaimed "$7 Dala!". There was silence. You would have thought everyone would erupt in cheers and say "Finally, something we can sell for real cheap!"

The next day, one of our dealers came into our booth, and said "Sorry about how our buying group treated you. You did not deserve that. But when that guy placed the stool down and said $7 dollars, I thought what can I do with a $7 stool, even if I marked it up 10 times, what do I need $63 for? What a waste of time".

Since then, Darafeev has made a very conscious decision to elevate, double up on our quality, and strive to make the finest, most relevant products humanly possible. Our $300 bar stools in 1980, are now $1,000, and we are currently in a growth spurt of product development. As long as consumers want quality, we're here to deliver.
