Rabble Theatre in Reading - prove you don't need to trek to London to get your fix of art & culture... last few tickets for Macbeth - be quick!

Never fails to amaze me how good RABBLE's productions are. And if you've not been you seriously should. Everyone bangs on about how Reading needs its own cultural hub but you need to find time to make the effort to support this level of creativity - or pay the time /price/late night penalty of trekking to London.

Shakespeare's fierce thriller is reimagined with raw power by Reading Between the Lines, in a production where women come to the fore - led by Jessica Baglow (BBC's Gentleman Jack, Shakespeare's Globe). The Minster church brings to life the haunting imagery, dramatic fight sequences and chilling original music. Inspired by Killing Eve, and the tone of many a modern horror movie, this Macbeth is one you don't want to miss.

If your kids are doing Macbeth for GCSE like my youngest, take them. This interpretation will have your kids voicing things you never knew they'd learnt! Martin at the Oracle Corp shared... "we went to see Macbeth last Saturday - chilling but very impressive. The kids actually left talking to each other about it, which is no mean feat! Definitely great for getting the kids engaged. Dan (also 15) actually came out discussing how the gender swap messed with some of the themes in the original play. Those are words I didn't even know he knew!" and my daughter and friend also 15 came out talking about the 'cyclical structure of the drama'.

So go on, support Toby and Dani who have built RABBLE Theatre up over 7 hard years of slog and buy tickets for Macbeth, directed by the fabulous Hal Chambers and featuring or their forthcoming production of Hansel & Gretel. Nothing is ever what you expect with RABBLE - let them entertain you London style.

After all, having a burgeoning arts and culture sector will help Reading thrive, drive new business, spur innovation, help attract talent to live/work here, and in the process accelerate the right mix of urban community development whilst improving the overall quality of life here for us who already live and work in Reading, Thames Valley.

Perhaps one day we might even see Reading's prison transformed into a new cultural hub - Oscar Wilde would have definitely approved!
