IBM reaching new quantum heights?

Researchers at IBM Quantum achieved an outstanding milestone in quantum simulation, executing 13,858 CNOT gates and a CNOT depth of 370. Utilising Qiskit Runtime and its error mitigation techniques, the team ran approximately 154 million circuit shots. The results were obtained using 112 qubits of IBM’s Heron processor, ibm_torino, and underscore the potential of utility-scale quantum computing. Future goals include simulating two high-energy particle beam collisions, which could demonstrate quantum computational advantage as no classical computer is currently capable of this feat. The work emphasises the importance of error suppression and correction techniques in advancing quantum technology. Read more: https://www.ibm.com/quantum/blog/hadron-dynamics-simulations?

Quantum Circuits create new superconducting qubit hardware??

Quantum Circuits, Inc. has introduced the Dual-Rail Qubit (DRQ), a new superconducting qubit with integrated error detection that significantly reduces phase and bit-flip errors, enhancing reliability and performance. The DRQ leverages two high-performance resonators for improved qubit coherence and stability, and achieves state preparation and measurement fidelities up to 99.99%. This innovation paves the way for practical error correction and scalable quantum processors, Quantum Circuits is also offering an alpha program for select customers to experiment with these dual-rail qubits via their Quantum Circuits Simulator.
