Expansion of the Universe:?

The Quran mentions in Surah Adh-Dhariyat (51:47), "And the heaven We constructed with strength, and indeed, We are [its] expander."

This verse remarkably aligns with one of the greatest discoveries of modern cosmology: the expansion of the universe. In 1929, Edwin Hubble, an American astronomer, observed through his telescope that galaxies are moving away from each other. This observation led to the conclusion that the universe is constantly expanding, a concept that forms the foundation of the Big Bang Theory. The use of the Arabic word "mūsi?ūn" (expanding) in the Quran over 1,400 years ago is remarkable, considering this fact was only scientifically confirmed in the 20th century.?

2. The Big Bang Theory

The Quran states in Surah Al-Anbiya (21:30), "Have those who disbelieved not considered that the heavens and the earth were a joined entity, and We separated them?"

This verse is strikingly similar to the Big Bang Theory, which describes that the universe began as a singular, extremely dense, and hot point before expanding outward. In the 20th century, scientists like Georges Lema?tre and Stephen Hawking contributed to the understanding that everything in existence originated from a single point and then separated. The Quran mentions in Surah Al-Anbiya (21:33), "And He it is who created the night and the day, and the sun and the moon. Each in an orbit floating."

The Quran further expands on celestial motion in Surah Yaseen (36:38), stating, "And the sun runs towards its stopping point. That is the determination of the Almighty, the All-Knowing."

In Surah Fussilat (41:11), the Quran states, "Then He directed Himself to the heaven while it was smoke."

The Quran states in Surah Al-Hijr (15:14-15): "And even if We opened to them a gate from the heaven and they continued ascending through it, they would say, ‘Our eyes have been dazzled. Rather, we are a people affected by magic.’"

The Quran accurately describes this phenomenon by mentioning how people would feel their eyes dazzle and see darkness if they ascended to the sky. 7. Protective Atmosphere (Ozone Layer & Magnetic Shield)

In Surah Al-Anbiya (21:32), the Quran states: "And We made the sky a protected ceiling, but they, from its signs, are turning away."

The Quran describes mysterious celestial objects in Surah At-Takwir (81:15-16): "So I swear by the retreating stars – those that run [their courses] and disappear."

9. Moonlight is Reflected Light

The Quran states in Surah Al-Furqan (25:61): "Blessed is He who has placed in the sky great stars and placed therein a [burning] lamp and luminous moon."

• The Sun is called a "lamp" (siraj), which generates its own heat and light.
• The Moon is referred to as "luminous" (muneer), meaning it reflects light rather than producing its own.

However, in 1609, Galileo Galilei, using a telescope, discovered that the Moon’s surface is covered with craters, and it does not emit light but reflects sunlight. This was scientifically proven centuries later, yet the Quran clearly made the distinction between the two sources of light.

10. Earth’s Rotational Movement

The Quran states in Surah An-Naml (27:88): "And you see the mountains, thinking them rigid, while they will pass as the passing of clouds."

?? Scientific Explanation: In the past, many believed the Earth was stationary. However, today we know that Earth rotates on its axis at approximately 1,670 km/h and also orbits the Sun at 107,000 km/h. The Quran describes the movement of mountains in a way that aligns with this scientific fact:

• The phrase "mountains passing as clouds" suggests a slow but steady movement.
• Since mountains are firmly attached to the Earth's crust, their movement indicates the Earth's rotation itself.

This concept was unknown in the 7th century but became widely accepted after the discoveries of Copernicus and Galileo in the 16th and 17th centuries. Yet, the Quran mentioned this long before any scientific tools could prove it.
