The premise of this quote is to make the processes so good, that you do not need to inspect your finished products!

Think about that:

  • No “Inspected by Number 8” tags in shirts.
  • Toasters coming off the assembly line going straight into boxes without anyone checking them out.
  • An empty stool where the sour face quality checker used to sit.

Build quality into the process, into your people, and they will make such good products that you no longer need to inspect them! Trippy stuff indeed…
