Quote of the Day

Quote of the Day

"I would rather have a general who is kind and stupid than one who is cruel and intelligent. Because stupidity is a fixed quantity, but cruelty is not."
“Never tell people how to do things. Tell them what to do and they will surprise you with their ingenuity.”

Great leaders recognize that the tactical side of creativity — what we do and how we do it — comes as a result of cultivation, not control.

Patton's quote highlights several key aspects of his approach:

  • Trust in Subordinates: Patton had immense faith in the capabilities of his troops. He believed in their ability to think critically and find innovative solutions.
  • Delegation: Instead of micromanaging, Patton preferred to delegate authority, allowing subordinates to take ownership of their tasks.
  • Focus on Outcomes: He was primarily concerned with achieving the end goal rather than prescribing specific methods, which encouraged creativity and adaptability.
  • Building Morale: By empowering his troops, Patton fostered a sense of ownership and pride, boosting morale and unit cohesion.

General Patton was a genius of a very advanced and complex military professionalism and leadership being far above all the other military leaders of the allied armies that landed in Europe in WWII.
