These days I read lots of posts about quiet quitting, going into self-employment and all kinds of “take charge of your life and career” articles. It makes me wonder, is it really that simple?
As the saying goes, grass is always greener on the other side. When one is upset or unhappy about one’s job, thoughts of quitting and sometimes even self-employment are natural. At the time these thoughts occur, we have already given up and are basically trying to convince ourselves why quitting is the right thing to do. We find all the good reasons/excuses to get out of the frustrations and disappointments we are facing in wherever we are and whatever we are doing. Even if we are told of the challenges we may face if we go into a new role or into self-employment, we always think “we can manage it”. The whole focus is on leaving/quitting! At that stage, everything is dark where we are while we only see brighter things on the other side.
The way I look at it, if you can’t make it work here, you won’t be able to make it work there!
My advice therefore to all those planning to quit their jobs or whatever they are doing, be it quit quit or quiet quitting, think twice, thrice, four times before making any move. Take a break, go do something you like to do, think about your achievements and if it is worth giving up all the intellectual, relationship, network, and/or other capital you have built! Remember, sometimes hard times (and silly people) are just temporary phenomenon, which will pass. If possible ignore them (if you can). If you cannot ignore them, avoid them. If you cannot avoid them, try not to see them. And, if you must see them, just stop thinking about them. Negative energy can be contagious! It is just not worth your time or attention!

Remember, when the going gets tough, the tough get going
I believe, there are always ways to make things work. Never compromise but focus on the positives and find ways to change the negatives. If you quit where you are, you will quit again and again and again… Quitting is a mindset which does not solve anything!
Always plan, prepare, be ready, and opportunities will find their way to you!?

2 年Well said Muhammad A. Laghari CCP GRP. I agree with you quitting is not a solution, it is a temporary compromise, IF is not well thought out. To me, the most important question to answer before you make such an important change is: Are you serving/living your life purpose and/or your leadership purpose? If the answer is NO, then you are not happy (you lead a compromised life), you must find the courage to step out of your comfort zone and move on, you don't belong there. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts with us Muhammad, a very powerful and an always relevant topic to discuss.
