“ I am not liking the job I am doing. Let me try for another one.
Anyways in today’s market it is easy to get job. My friend Arun got job last week. Let me resign today.”
'On a whim, the thought of job switch came, decide to resign, anyways 2 months notice period is there so can easily try that time. Now a days immediate joiners have demand. '
?Are you someone like this?
Then I urge you to Pause.
Don’t take job switch decisions on a whim. Just because your friend got job, might not be the same in your case. Also, randomly switching will impact your career too.
Now you may ask? “So, are you saying, don’t switch job even if I don’t like what I am doing now?”
No, not like that.
You should plan your career switches.
Planning is important in a job switch.
Some of the factors you can consider while planning the job switch are:
1.???Identify the exact reason ‘Why’ are you going to switch career?
This is quite important because this will define your satisfaction in the next job. If you don’t have a clear answer for this question, better give some time to think through, before deciding on resignation. Sometimes an argument with your boss or a team member push you to that mind state to quit the place. It may be impulsive, but you can’t always do that. You should learn to face such situations.
Giving some time to think well and then taking the decision, will help to decide from a calm and rational mind.
2.??? Think on how would you like your next career to be? The kind of environment, team, work style, work hours and other factors.

Why is this important?
Many times, it happens to people that they run away from one situation, and end up in similar situation in next organization. Once you know what you need, you can then do some research before joining a company. In today’s world it is easy to do. Reviews are available in Glassdoor, Quora and other websites. You can also directly connect with employees of the organization through platforms like LinkedIn.
Decide what you want, enquire and then decide.
3.????Decide the type of work (full time, part-time etc) , remote or on-site , willing to travel or not
Deciding on these factors will help to streamline your job searching process. It will be easy for you and for recruiters. Otherwise you may waste lot of time applying to wrong jobs. You may be losing a right opportunity meantime.
?4.????Decide the salary package and other benefits you are looking for.
Salary might not be the only benefit people look for when they switch jobs. Other benefits also matters. If you have such needs, then be mindful about those. List them and clarify them before closing the offer.
There are other factors also you can include while planning your job switch, depending on your exact requirement. Whatever they are, make sure you plan it ahead and do not rush to jump and end up in another tough situation.
