Did you quit your Job? To do a larger good? Bad decision! It is a bad decision if your family needs you to give them security. Security today is a combination of Money and Community.
Let us dive a little deep..
Let's take Community first: When you do good, you get an exceptional community. A community that will understand you, be with you, and help you. I have an abundance of people who want me to succeed. The unfortunate truth is this! Such communities do not have surplus money.
So, let us take Money now: In my limited experience, surplus money is elsewhere. Wealth is in places which has gained significantly through Capitalistic agenda. If you don't belong there, you won't have an abundance of such people around you. Can't blame the system. It was so and it might be so in the future too.
So Dear Larger Good Person, how do you bring income security to the family?
Ans: Develop skills to access money (for your larger good work) through the two primary methods as below.
Marketing: From Lake clean-up to organic farming, if your agenda is larger good, better know how to make the world participate in your music.
?(and) (or)
Matter: You don't have to sell your work. But immerse yourself in the work. Make it your life. People around will sell your work. It's easy to say this, but let us be practical. If you have a family, this route is more complex.
So, I highly recommend people with family responsibilities not to quit their primary work(Salaried) to do larger good (non-salaried).
But you won't listen to me. By now, you would have started ignoring me. That is its nature.

You will anyway end up moving from your Job.
So, be prepared! Hone your skills. Your skills on this side of the world are more important than the Salaried world.
You got to be the Subject Matter expert, Marketing expert, and almost everything.
See if this sounds a bell...?
Driving a car on a Tar road is an acquirable skill. Many have mastered it, rules are set, so you too can.
Driving a car in an unknown terrain is a different game. Not attempted by any; No predecessor. Hence, you got to be the 'all in all'. That takes time.
You will have to prove that it is possible.
If you do, the generation shifts.
Patience Persistence.
Decision is yours.
Good Read ! Income security to self and to the family is must !!!

4 个月Follow capitalism when you earn and have soicalist means when you spend. Unless you earn, no one listens to you (not even your family). Ideal is to find ways to earn reasonably well while doing larger good. It's a difficult balance but if you strike it, you are close to nirvana.
