Quit Caring What Other People Think (this is a key trait of the wealthy and they respect it in others)

I know you like to think you don’t… but you do.

We all do. ??

But there are degrees of caring.

I care what Marian thinks about me.

And maybe one or two other very close friends.

That’s it.

Otherwise, what you think about me is immaterial.?

?? I’d prefer that you like and respect me.

But I don’t need for you to do so.

The reason I’m talking about this today is because so many people hold back from all sorts of things… trying something new… setting a personal goal for themselves… elevating the type of client they’re going after… because they worry about what others will think of them. ??

I get it.

When I quit drinking, you know what the hardest part was? ??♂?

It was I worried what people would think about me when I said “No thanks” to the offer of a cocktail.

I’d create elaborate excuses or reasons for why I wouldn’t join them for a beer.

Until one day - I said to myself, “Fuck it, this is stupid.”

“I don’t drink - if it bothers anyone else that’s on them.”

And interestingly, that one decision impacted a lot of different areas of my life. ??

?? I found I just didn’t care about the opinion of others enough to stop me from trying something.?

So I launched some new business ventures… some worked… some didn’t… all were great experiences.?

?? But I wouldn’t have tried any of them if I had been worried about what others think.

When I talk about self-confidence and self-assuredness… this is a huge part of it.

The really good news is that it isn’t hard to do if you’re willing to adjust what matters to you and whose opinion really matters to you. (And what you’re likely to find, is that it’s a lot smaller group of people than you may have thought.)
