I have a call in 45 minutes with a dentist who keeps complaining that he can’t make more than $160,000 a year. The reason is simple. He’s positioning himself as a dentist instead of marketing “Dental Care”.
I spoke to an online entrepreneur last week who made between $200,000 and $240,000 each year over the past three years but he can’t break out. Same thing; he’s marketing products instead of building a following of people who will follow him to the ends of the earth because he’s marketed himself and not his product.
Look at the brands out there that are people. They have become celebrities by their marketing; not their talent. Some of the wealthiest ones work at marketing their brand; not being entertainers. This is a very simple concept. Everyone can apply it if you own a business and want to grow it.
The simple practice will generate more customers, clients, cases or patients. You become the target of your marketing! Anyone who runs their own business trades hours for money. Doctors are mechanics. They get paid more than a mechanic but lately, not by a lot. You need to become the marketer of you and your service instead of selling a service.
Become the authority in your town or market. It’s so simple to do and making that one change can change your business forever.
